Making a self-diagnosis of BPII

Q: I have had episodes of depression for about fifteen years (I'm twenty nine now) and have taken numerous anti-depressants. Most of them worked well in the beginning, but after a few months, ceased to be effective. I've also been diagnosed with ADD. I have concentration problems, impulsivity and have enormous debt due to uncontrolled spending. I never even considered that I might be Bipolar, but now I'm thinking I may be Bipolar II. I've been told by friends, family and even people who don't know me well that I'm always really up or really down. I usually have an enormous amount of confidence or none at all. My moods are very unpredictable and often totally seperate from external factors. I've read that people who can laugh and joke no matter how depressed they are may be Bipolar. That's me. What do you think? Please let me know. Thanks.

Dear Karen --
There's a website about BPII that is tailor made for your question.  (I'm sure -- I wrote it).  Check that out and feel free to ask more.
